Recording a PC screen over a VPN or with several network cards

A PC with a VPN has two addresses. If the NVR gets the wrong one, it never connects. One setting fixes it.

Why it happens

ONVIF tells the recorder which address to use for the video. On a PC with a VPN or several network cards, that may be an address the NVR cannot reach.

The fix

  1. Open the Screen2ipcam control panel.
  2. Go to the VPN tab.
  3. Choose the address the NVR should see (usually the LAN address, or the VPN address when the NVR is on the other side of the VPN).
  4. Apply, then re-add the camera on the NVR.
